Accommodation at the Roundhouse

The Roundhouse is an authentic and atmospheric replica of the Celtic Chief’s Roundhouse located at the scheduled Bodrifty Iron Age Settlement just three fields away. The conical thatched roof set on low granite walls and the well-stocked firebowl help to create a wonderful illusion of stepping into another time and place.

But those envisaging prehistoric conditions need not fear: the Roundhouse has been sensitively kitted out for a supremely comfortable stay. The centrepiece hand-crafted four-poster bed, made from locally felled green oak, comes with a top-of-the-range, hand pocket-sprung organic mattress, luxurious duck-down duvets (one underneath, one on top), and soft, white Egyptian cotton sheets – and the fire can keep the place toasty all night long. Many of our guests tell us that the combination of the bed and the utter tranquillity of the setting made the Roundhouse one of the best night’s sleep they’ve ever had.

The Garden Quarters

You will have exclusive use of the Garden Quarters during your stay at the Roundhouse, which has a self-catering kitchen where you can prepare a feast with a basket of our organic salad leaves and edible flowers from the Bodrifty organic market garden – or perhaps fresh-that-day Cornish crab, landed locally in Newlyn.

It also has a modern bathroom with rainforest shower, and a comfortable, light and airy living space where you can curl up and read, or just absorb the view of the gardens with Mount’s Bay beyond.

Once your booking is confirmed, we will email you The Guide, our insider’s guide to West Cornwall, which clues you into the best places to eat and drink, as well as galleries, beaches, gardens and attractions. In The Guide, we’ve provided all the details so you can plan your own itinerary, but if you prefer, we can sort it or you. Just let us know your wish list and we’ll do the rest.
