Swallow Barn: Fresh Air, Starry Nights, Log fire, Super Comfortable Bed
Occupying an ivy-cloaked farm building dating back to the 16th century, Swallow Barn now offers distinctive cottage accommodation, liberally decorated with art and photography, books and freshly cut flowers from our gardens.
The accommodation is ideal for couples and is spread over two floors, including the following comfortable and calming spaces:
The Sitting Room is a real sanctuary, flooded by the famously clear Cornish light and warmed by our well-stoked wood burner – with ivory damask sofas and Berber soft wool carpet. French doors lead to a private patio, paved with reclaimed Great Western Railway bricks, with barbecue, table and chairs. The patio in turn leads to a large lush lawn and on through pasture and woodland to the open moor.
The Classic Cottage Kitchen features a Cornish dresser, an antique farmhouse table and a well-equipped hand-made kitchen. We can supply you with freshly picked salad, herbs and vegetables from our organic kitchen garden (which you may also spot on the menu at the Gurnard’s Head and the Coldstreamer, two of West Cornwall’s best dining pubs).
The Bedroom is a cosy space with a seriously comfortable pocket-sprung double bed, dressed in fine cotton linens, and feather and goose down duvet and pillows. It has soft lighting, two sunny windows and soft wool carpet underfoot and lots of books lining the walls..
The Bathroom has a traditional Cornish slate floor, fluffy white towels (bring your own for the beach please) and a shower with unlimited hot water; sorry no bath (Cornish cottages are tricky like that).
The property has its own drive and parking space outside the front door, leading to a large entrance room for all your kit, muddy boots, surfboards and coats.
Once your booking at Swallow Farm is confirmed, we will email you The Guide, our insider guide to West Cornwall, which clues you into the best places to walk, eat and drink, as well as galleries, beaches, gardens and attractions. In The Guide, we’ve provided all the details for you to plan your own itinerary, but if you prefer, we can book the best tables, organise tickets and arrange activities.
